Your latest, my dears.

Andre bought his bike. I bought my fishtank.

Andre's bike folds in half. It's quite interesting actually. It's not one of those little puny folding bikes. This thing will take him places. Last night he was so cute. I was in my room with the door shut admiring my new fishtank (the purple one, see blog below) and there's this almost imperceptible tap on my door. I wasn't even sure I heard a knock. So I went and checked and there's Andre. He hisses in this excited whisper, "Come see my bike!" (He didn't want to wake Trina, who growls out her existence across the hall. She is not pleased with loud voices in the pm hours.)

So I went downstairs, and what a bike! I was very happy for him, and he was so happy for himself. He's been talking about this bike like I've been talking about my fish. And I remembered he said the day before that "tomorrow" he was going to get his bike. And he actually did, I'm very pleased.

So now Andre has mobility. And I have an empty fishtank.

I showed Andre the fishtank and he brought up some vital points:

1. the filter might make noise. But he assured me, it will probably only be background noise. I can live with that.

2. um. that was about it.

Andre was surprised I didn't get the fish already. But it's a good thing as remember my stupidly-located outlets? Well, they are all taken up already. I need to get some sort of extension cord. Had I bought any fish, the poor things wouldn't have had a working filter. And you know what that means. Dead fishies. (Or sushi, to some of you.)

Oh! And the tank comes with a light. Andre was indeed impressed with just how perfectly the tank fit on my table too. See. I told you.

Now I just have to learn about fishes and how to take care of them. Then decide what kind I want and decide what color to get the gravel. Something that complements the fish, the tank, and ultimately, the room. Hmmmm...

In light of spending the $46 for the fishtank and filters, I decided to forego the beginning tumbling class. It would have been fun, but I am supposed to be broke. So I took a walk and did some handstands and cartwheels on my own. I was trying to find the Precidio but I got it all wrong. I followed signs, too. I ended up at Robin Williams' pink fortress in front of China Beach. Do not ask me how I got there, it was not my intent. I spied a beautiful calico sitting closeby. Oo! Famous kitty! I thought. Said calico did not appreciate my overtures of friendliness, disappearing around the corner into the William's homestead. Huff. Sad. So then I checked out China Beach. It is very tiny but has a weird cement-ish building stradling its center. It was rather a gray evening though. So then I walked home (pretty close by actually) and Andre delighted me with all his excitement over his bike. He's a good roommate. And now there's talk of him getting a bunny! Yes, a bunny! Alas, it was only talk. He has much he wants to do with his room prior to bringing a bunny into it.

I'm so glad I'm in SF right now. I love the city and walking around, being close to beaches, parks, little shops, fun classes, all the theatres, and friendly people.

And of course, as is obvious, I am rather in love with my room.
