one danio - little, white with flowy fins, tentatively called "Fairy" - very active, fast, according to Andre "psychotic," likes the surface, the first to explore, hangs at the surface, moves very fast
one wag-tailed sunburst (or something like that) platty - reddish/orangish - very brightly colored with black fins.. painfully shy as anything, looks like a flame and so is tentatively called "Flame"
one dwarf red guorami (forget exact names, sorry) - larger than the others, but not humongous, orange/cream/pink with blue top fin, fins not flowy. stays put and also hides although nips at the others sometimes. i worry about this one. tentatively called "Spike" as fins are rather short and straight and has two antenna like things hanging from mouth.
and my favorite, yes, already my favorite:
one rosy barb - same size/little bigger than Flame, whitish/yellowish/peach/pink/orange with light pink flowy fins. curious like Fairy, fairly active, loves to explore, goes everywhere. either "Rosy" or "Angel," they both fit. has a wonderful, very social-but-not-manic personality. my darling...
i fed them this morning..
Fairy, of course, little thing he/she is, found the food first and did acrobatics eating as much and as fast as he/she could..
second to find the food, of course, was Rosy/Angel.. what a beauty..
i was worried about the other ones, hanging at the bottom like life was over now that they had this new environment to contend with..
Flame finally got into the action, taking nibs at the falling flakes..
and Spike, god love her/him... my stupidest fish. i'm not sure she/he got anything to eat.. did not seem to grasp concept of "food at top of tank" like the others..
but as fish can go a while w/o food and overfeeding is the leading cause of fish death, poor Spike will have to wait until manana.
i think i need to get a bigger plant. mine is rather tiny. also, i'll turn off the filter during feeding time so slow Spike can have more of a chance to gravitate toward the top before the flakes spin away.
obviously i spent some time getting to know my fish last night :)
andre's painting his room. it'll look tons better. actually, he and alan (his boy) sanded the walls last night and put primer on.. andre says he'll draw on the walls and then go over it with polysomethingthene. promises to be interesting...
ok. fish are fun but i am really missing people now.
