Your Mouse Update:
My Mommy Instincts are coming on strong. But I'll get back to that..
Last night, paranoid of mouse viruses, I wore vinyl medical-worker's gloves and attempted to feed the mice. They were all freaked. Not the best idea for their emotional welfare. Gloves, along with breaking up a seemingly deadly wrestling session, turned these guys against me. They spent the remainder of the evening inside the toilet paper roll, giving me dirty looks when I passed by, certain the terror that is me would eat them alive.
Funny, I was the one scared of them!
So today I decided to try to make peace with them.
I went back to the syringe-and-pipette nursing. They were ravenous and calmed down. Obviously they prefer the formula over water. They're still young.
I think I'll change the food. Minette's changed from the tiniest into the most pot-bellied. (She's still too young to be pregnant, so it's not that I'm worried about.) She's always munching on something. When I was researching how to take care of them I read a lot about how much of the mouse/rat food is too concentrated in seeds and other high-fat items, which can be dangerous because the animal can overdue it on them and neglect other nutrients. I think I'll try some basic veggies-- carrots, apples, and maybe some greens, but smaller portions also.
And here's where the spoiling part's going to come in. I'm going to make a visit over to the Petsmart at Fisherman's Wharf and buy them these cool little clear plastic balls. You put them in, close the lid, and they're free to explore the room. I'll have to clean my room of course. Minette could use the exercise. I'm seriously concerned, they can die from over-feeding, and I also hope she's not eating too much of the bedding. Another danger. I hope they can get the hang of the balls and don't hurt themselves if they start going too fast.
They're eyes seem to be clearer and brighter now. They're definitely getting a little bigger, although only Gray Guy has the glow of health. I'll have to take some pics.
It'll be sad to say goodbye.

Hoping the mice are well and on their own soon -- probably it would be best to return them close to where you found them. You know the whole natural habitat thing.
Love you, my creature saving sister!
did you mention their names?
Gray Guy is the largest and possibly older. Minette was the tiniest, and a girl. The other boy is Thimble. He and Minette are hard to tell apart now.
