My sis asked for a mural update, so here goes:
Hopefully the link below will work.
The mural turned out good and happened quickly! Only 4 hours on a weekend and it didn't feel like loads of work either - there were so many of us I guess.
The mural was already outlined for us to paint. There was only one problem -- the earth wasn't part of the design - it was a last minute addition. There were some circles and red dots before, and they turned the large circle in the center of the sun into a globe. But because it wasn't prepared, the geography of the earth was, how shall I say, "creative."
I started with yellow and outlined the left-half of the lettering around the earth (filling in the large sun behind it). The guy who started on the right side is a lawyer who happens to live right next to the school where the mural was being painted. (It's Marshall Elementary in the Mission District of SF, by the way.) He does a lot of copyright work with tech companies.
After that I took some breaks and then did a few more colors -- orange, dark blue, a little brown. Someone brought a photocopy of a map of the world out and I helped a girl fix the earth. Then I got to trace it, and the next thing I know, the world is my responsibility! (I apologize South America got a little blobby -- we were running out of time and there was a ladder over me so it was hard to get perspective. Thank goodness the dark ocean blue color was good at covering a multitude of sins.)
By the time I finished the world (heh, heh) I looked up, and the rest of the mural was just about done. It was awesome how fast we went! I love how bright and colorful it is.
Once when I stepped back to take in the full view, a guy riding by on a bike told me "thank you." Ahh...
Anyway, to see pics of the mural (I hope it works) click below:
