I appreciate everyone's support and interest in the class I want to teach, even though I know it's not your thing (being carnivores). I blog updates on my vegan blog, caroveg, which incidentally you can reach by going to my "carolinks" page and then clicking on "caroveg." The URL is http://happyveg.blogspot.com. I use that blog to post vegan-related stuff and to keep a track of my progress with the class. Which is right now going rather slow. Dr. McDougall hasn't finished the curriculum for the class yet, and I'm also waiting to save up a little money before purchasing the DVDs I'll need. Not that it's that big of an investment, I just have other things I'm doing with money right now, like swimming for my neck, possibly seeing a chiropractor, a trip to Disneyland in September, and also finally paying off my car (insert blushing cheeks). I also have to verify if the place where I want to teach the class has a computer or laptop I can borrow and can connect the Skype to the sound system or if I have to get techie and do it myself. Hopefully if anything my old laptop will work, but this is all stuff I have to find out still.
I'm liking the Central YMCA, even though it's in the Tenderloin. It's close to the Main Library, so I look at it like going to the Main Library, and it's not that bad. Inside it's great. It's one of those old beautiful buildings and the whole things is a vertical YMCA, so every floor has something interesting. The roof has a great view and a garden. The pool is in the basement. I've been trying it out on a 4 day pass. The guy who gave me the tour was really nice and chatty. The Embarcadero YMCA which I also checked out seems more new, glossy, and spacious, but also more crowded and with less in general. Also, it's actually faster for me to get home from the Central rather than Embarcadero, because of how Muni runs, so all in all I think I'll be happy being a Central homie, yo.
I went swimming today (my second time) and I love the people there. They're just real, regular folks, nothing fancy or shmarmy. I love the tiny little women's locker room with at most 1 or 2 other people in it so far the times I went. The small, short pool, where I can swim a lap without killing myself and only a couple other swimmers there.
Once I join June 1st I get some free passes. So you better holla :)
