I went to the beach today to enjoy the fine weather. I brought East of Eden, the book we're reading for my book club. I didn't realize it'd be such a tome. I'm on Chapter 4 and can't say I'm in love with it. So far I've encountered two tight-lipped humorless female characters and a murderous, evil brother. I feel detached from the characters, even though they're all pretty strong and distinct.
The beach itself was lovely, although crowded. I moved to have a bit more privacy, but still too many people for my taste. I left early to meet my friend for dinner and then see a sort of crazy play, which felt like one of those movies we used to make in high school. It was called Kentucky Jones and the actors would throw things at the audience.
Then we had desert and I got home and my keys were gone! I think they fell out of my purse in the theatre, because Tasha had found my cell phone and chapstick on the ground near my seat, and I bet my keys were down there too but I didn't see them what with all the other junk they'd thrown at us down there, and I didn't think to check more. Andre had to come down and open the door for me in the middle of the night poor guy. So tomorrow I'll have to deal with that. I also have a spare key for my room's door but I can't remember what I did with it. I had to get in through the bathroom, which wasn't an easy feat because my chest of drawers stands up against the door. But thank goodness I have that option.
Anyway, for now, I'll add my answers..
1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
I lived with my parents and I think I was going to Chabot and working at the post office. I went on my study abroad to England. I hung out with my friends a lot and drove a blue car with regular problems.
2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
Since it's night, I'm going to crash soon, so I'll do it for tomorrow:
[EDIT: 5? 5 is too little. It's Sunday now and I got plans.]
1. tell landlord sob story about lost keys
2. find spare room key or buy new locking door knob and install
3. possibly swim
4. possibly lounge around Golden Gate Park
5. possibly clean and tidy room
6. move new chairs from car to kitchen
7. shop for a new swimsuit or two
8. buy some Eucerin face moisturizer. Tasha who's skin is as soft as a baby's bottom swears by it.
9. grocery shop (possibly get some cherries at the Farmer's Market -- $3 for a decent sized bag, good deal!)
10. do finances - many expenses this month and it's past time I tightened up me budget.
3) Snacks I enjoy:
natural fruit leather, Shredded Spoonfuls cereal (with rice milk), zucchini slices and guac dip or hummus, vegan quesadillas (hummus & nut. yeast), nuts, fruit (mangoes, cherries, strawberries, berries in general)
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Buy a small house with pretty land and grow my own veggie garden
Travel with friends and fam my treat like Lisa
Put $ toward retirement
Get training in filmmaking at SF School of Digi Filmmaking
Perhaps get training in nutrition also (Kaplan University)
Donate to charities that really make a good difference
Start educational trusts for my nephews and fam
I think it'd be fun to learn to sail and live on a boat for a while, just sail around to interesting places
Learn surfing somewhere warm (with warm water)
Pay for friends and family's extended education if they wanted it
I like the green Prius but maybe wait for the next versions, hopefully they'll keep improving it
5) Places I have lived:
San Leandro, CA
San Francisco, CA
Study abroad: Kingston-Upon-Thames, England
6) Jobs I have had:
Paper Route Assistant (to my big sis)
Babysitter
McDonald's crew member (sad, I boycott 'em now)
General Cinema team member (box office/concession - fun!)
Service Merchandise team member (lasted a week, I quit)
Post Office mail sorter (lasted under a month, I quit)
Post Office typer (got to listen to headphones)
Deli Slave at Safeway
Checker at Safeway
Admin Assistant (Brayer Electric, Victoire Imports (wine importing), Douglas Electronics, Novedge LLC)
Marketing Manager (Victoire)
Starbucks team member (no more 4 am shifts!)
Office Manager (Douglas/Novedge)
Waitress (Lyons, Bubba Gumps, Cesario's)
Art Store Clerk (Artist and Craftsman store, SF)
Actress ($60 for one line I forget)
Associate Content Producer (Novedge)
Various short gigs including bartending, event assistance, serving, catering, office temp jobs, filling out surveys, focus groups, etc. The best was $100 for showing up to a vegan focus group and then being excused (but paid) because they had enough people! If only that could happen everyday :)
I better get to bed. Everyone have a splendid Sunday.
Love,
C

We were partners in the paper route venture -- remember all the littering we did! Yikes, it'd make me sick today.
You're right, although I thought it was in your name and then I came on board, but my memory's foggy. All those newspapers! Probably bad on our backs.
and I remember the dirty black fingers too, and how much we hated having to roll them up.
did you forget safeway?
