I halted The Pilgrimage. I think I'll start with Brida. I just couldn't get into The Pilgrimage and I didn't like the first person voice.
I'm still waiting for my stupid blisters to heal up so I can get some new sneakers. I want to get running shoes and start this 15 week 5K training schedule that Julie sent me.
I just recounted the weeks and it looks like if this is week 1, I'll finish the first week of September. So it looks like before I was counting wrong. I'm going to find a 5K to sign up for. My requirements: nearby and hopefully for a charity I like. I should be ready any week starting from Sept. 12. Right now I'm eyeing the Palo Alto moonlight run. That sounds fun. Have to look into it more, I'm not sure if there's a charity with it. JR, interested?
I'm glad I have YMCA membership. I can swim to cross train on my non-running days, and hit the yoga classes to stretch out. Today I rode my bike to work so this is a cross training day. Even though my muscles are still a bit tight from last week I'm impatient to start!
Very annoying: the lawyer next door is not there and there's some alarm going off. Bizarre.
Tonight I'm trying a new Thai place with Leigh. Looks yummy.
EDIT: There doesn't seem to be much there for the Palo Alto moonlight run. I've been checking out some others and coming up with some more requirements:
1. Not a windy area (I don't mean the path winding, I mean the wind blowing and freezing me)
2. Flat, not hilly
3. Nearby-ish
4. It would be nice if it's for a charity
5. Pretty area/nature
6. Only 5K

yes, i've done the moonlight run before and it's fun! tons of freebies beforehand, too :) they gave all of us a tshirt with a big moon in front... it glows in the dark!
the event benefits south bay charities. yes, i'd love to do it this year :)
ooo, sounds fun but I have to look into it more because when I clicked on the more info link it looked like it was old/not updated... Let me know if you hear more about it or know where the official website is. I'm going to try to jog/run it.
Yay!! I just read your blog! You're in!!
Hi Carolyn-
Ssounds like you are doing great things! You can learn more about the Moonlight Run by going to:www.paloaltoonline.com/moonlight_run/index.php. This run is part of the Palo Alto Grand Prix, a series of runs which benefit local (to Palo Alto) charities.
You mentioned working out at the YMCA; I work there and am glad you are enjoying the facility. We have a run that is part of the Palo Alto Grand Prix too. Ours is called Marsh Madness (because it's at the Baylands) and benefits youth fitness. If you would like to learn more about Marsh Madness (will be on October 24 this year) go to www.marshmadnessrun.net or email me with your question and I'll get you whatever information you would like. Good luck!
hey, thank you for the info! I'll look into it. I'll think about Marsh Madness too, if I'm up for it after the moonlight one I can do that one too.
