I'm upset about the deaths in Arizona, especially the 9 year old. I wanted to share Keith Olbermann's comments about what happened since I feel the same way:
Keith Olbermann's special edition of "Countdown"
The video is about 9 minutes long.
Since I am still without working telly, I haven't seen his show. I suppose working with Greenpeace I tend to feel the political climate a bit more than the average person. I start talking about orangutans and the next thing I know there's an angry person in front of me claiming I'm anti-business (riiiight), liberal (um.. I'm not really that political actually), or a terrorist (yeah.. I can't even hurt spiders in my room, I gotta do the whole cup thing with a 3x5 card to get them outside, like I'd be part of an "eco-terrorist" group). What does my politics have to do with it? I'm talking about international endangered species laws (that are already on the books) which means the majority of the world's population (i.e. EVERYONE) does not want to see the species go extinct. What I mean is that I run into people who seem to be all hyped up on politics and it's like they see every issue relative to that. I think that's only because they're listening to media that makes everything political. And sadly there are pundits and so called "leaders" whose inflammatory language I do not excuse easily from the death of that innocent little girl. My heart goes out to her family and friends, to all the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy.
