saturday night i watch the house of sand and fog with my roommate, kelly. that is one disturbing movie. why didn't she just sue?
kelly is funny. she told me this story of how she was almost arrested but she got out of it. it was really funny but i'd have to tell it in person (even that might not do it justice.)
i've had 3 brushes with the law myself, and always emerged unscathed. first: kathy sped on the way to disneyland and she got a ticket. second: my tags were expired and i hadn't put the new stickers on. they were in my glove box. i ...ahem... didn't really put it together to stick the stickers on the license, i seriously thought you just had to keep them with the car. i think the cop was trying not to laugh at me. third: i sped (and by sped, i mean, "went with the speed of traffic") on the way to rehearsal once and a cop pulled me over to fume at me. AND my registration was expired. but he didn't do anything but growl. hm.
kelly & i watched the movie because we were both procrastinating - she didn't want to write a psychology paper and i didn't want to memorize my script. so sunday night she was still working on her paper and i was still getting through act 1. bad girl, bad.
tonight i'm getting myself off book dammit! no more dillydallying.
my family's over from utah. they're going to come by wednesday or saturday. wednesday we'll have dinner in sf and then i'll show them my room. saturday maybe take the kids to the zoo or the pier 39 aquarium-thingy, not sure. we'll figure it out. i'll have to cut out early for rehearsal though.
things around here are pretty dead as chad is in vegas visiting his daughter. i like when it's quiet and empty here.
i also went to this art show saturday with hilde but i wasn't too into it. i was rather bored actually.
there was a cute guy there who had done some art and i couldn't take my eyes off him because he was the most un-animated person i've ever seen in my life. really cute too, which is i guess why i found him fascinating. he also has a face that looks like you've seen him before. i'm sure if i was more of an intellectual-type i would have been duly impressed to hear that his dad was a premier architect in the city, who apparently hob-nobs with a leading writer of one of san francisco's major papers. not being well-connected, well-read, or well-stuffy, i was not impressed and proceeded to study his eyes and challenge him to show an expression. (which he would not do.) so i moved on to look at the other little pieces of art which were not speaking to me either.
i only had hilde. smart, serious, and fun. and somehow connected to these people.
