RED ALERT!!! NEW POST :)

Not one of you is updating your blog, so it's up to me to start the trend.

Today was so much fun. I went to Bonfante Gardens (somewhere south of Gilroy, CA) with my nephew and fam. Quite a trip.

Bonfante is owned by Paramount (rumor is, that is...) but you'd never know it. It's my kind of place - everything has a nature-lovey, garden-happy theme. There are even "lesson booths" where kids and fam can learn about trees, rocks, recycling, not trampling on plants or picking at flowers.. etc. Oh! And they use organic methods to take care of their plants (good bugs to eat bad bugs instead of toxic pesticides for instance.)

It's also not horribly humongous so you're not worn out just getting around. There's also a beautiful semi-clear live-algae lake with swan and duck paddle boats and a gorgeous waterfall to drift near. What peace. What zen. The whole park has gardens and flowers, different kinds of trees, cute little pathways.. you get the pic.

As Phi would say, "much fun was had," even though some of the rides weren't operating. Everyone had a great time. Only minus (for me) -- I didn't like the place where we ate. Crumby veg selection.

But later, for dinner, we went to Olive Garden. I haven't been there in a while. Enjoyed a delicious berry fruit desert with a traditional Italian custard. Forget the name of the custard. I think it started with Z.

Italian words I retained (picked up from Alex's menu):

albero - tree
amici - friends
gatto - cat
cane - dog
tetto - roof
finestra - window
porta - door
pomodoro - tomato (hmm!! voila moment)
there was one more.... hmmm.....
bandiero or bandiera (can't remember proper gender form) - flag

I think that's all.

fini!
