Yes, it's always fun when Christine works

Christine, one of the kitchen managers, is hilarious. My table ordered another garlic bread and another table was waiting for the rest of theirs (some sort of mix up that I was trying to help them with.)

I go to the kitchen with questions about garlic bread.

All is chaos, there's no tickets, they just offer me garlic bread, but only one basket, I try to explain, they're dealing with bigger fries, Christine puts a steak knife in my hands so the blade points out towards her from my chest. "Just hold this and I'll run" she says, totally deadpan, pretending to run toward the blade. I crack up.

I leave with the one garlic bread, give it to my table, then back to the kitchen to check about that missing garlic bread for the other table. Suddenly they have tickets. What's going on? I ask, trying to figure this out. Christine: "We don't know, do you need pasta?" "What are you talking about? I still need a garlic bread!" Finally, amidst the laughs and confusion, I get my garlic bread and make a decision. "Don't worry," I say. "I'll just tell them I don't know what's going on but the kitchen manager is back there trying to commit suicide."

:)

It was a really funny night.

Contrast that with my art store job. I am slightly (occasionally) clashing with my manager over there. She's actually pleasant enough and I think pretty much knows her stuff, just takes a while to decide how she wants things. She listens to basically, really crappy music. Occasionally, I mean, Very Rarely, she puts on music that sounds good. But usually, it's weird twangy, strangely repetitive Christian heavy-metal or weepy balads or just annoying elevator type music. It's stuff I've never heard, I don't know. I like a lot of different kinds of music, but not hers. Today she played a Sarah McGlaughlin CD. So happy, nearly cried ;) J/K.

But it's not the music. That's just annoying sometimes. She doesn't recycle. Let me repeat that. She doesn't recycle!! Can you believe it? Maybe she does sometimes, but we have all this cardboard, plastic, it'd be a cinch to organize it and send someone over to recycle it or get rid of it cleanly, but no, that's too much time and effort for her, it has to be out now, it's just simpler to dump it because there's so much of it. She won't even let ME organize it and try to get it done. I was QUITE annoyed, let me tell you. Has she never seen any kind of environmental documentary? Heard of PBS? Taken ONE science class? That really bothered me a lot.

I'm glad there are funny people in the world. They brighten people's days.

All right, good night folks. I'm tired. With all the manual labor of the art store job, you'd think I'd built some muscles recently. But I haven't. Cest la vie.
