exhaustion

one corn maze, staying up 'til 4am, one bike ride, a long walk along Market to the Embarcadero, and some fresh pomegranite =

weak, sore, sleep-deprived mind and body and painful throat. I think the pomegranite seeds irritated the throat. Or at least that's what I'm hoping. Luckily no cough or (ahem) phlegm. Just dry, painful throat where it hurts to talk.

I want to crawl into bed.

I tried to find this superfood by Brendan Brazier called Vega at Whole Foods at lunch but no luck. I read his Canadian best-selling book Thrive and learned about some superfoods that help extreme athletes recover faster. (He goes into the physiology of the human body under stress and how different types of foods work in the body.) Now I'm (obviously) no extreme athlete but this weekend was extreme enough for me and I figured I could use all the help I could get.

Unfortunately Whole Foods doesn't seem to carry it and I'm wary of most powerbar kind of stuff because I think they're mostly fats, too much protein, and sugar - not what a body needs to recover when sore.

:(

I think I may invest in a massage tonight. I'm sure that will at least help me to feel better.

When did an active weekend start knocking me out? It seems to me I never suffered this much in the past. Hm. I think it's because I spend too much of my weekdays on my toosh. That's what's going on. I start making my heart beat fast and needing more oxygen and it's a foreign concept to my body. That's sad.

Hopefully I'll recover soon so I can get back out there and try to build up my pitiful endurance.

Darn SF hills.
