Miami Herald article about VP debate
don't like snarky Palin who decimates wolf populations and doesn't know what global warming is
And another thing, I'm tired of folksy politicians who wink at their audiences and treat debates like talk shows. I had enough of that with Bush, whose actions* have spoken louder than his stupid words and bad spelling.
I don't generally follow the ins & outs of politics because under the present administration, too much of it has left me feeling sick to my stomach for so long, but please excuse me while I take a moment to rant some long-pent-up feelings. As LK has blogged, my views, opinions, feelings, and attitudes are only being voiced by one candidate -- and the Democratic platform. Like tonight, all I heard from the other side is taxes, taxes, taxes -- as though that is all I'm concerned about.
I personally feel the US government is there to do a job, and it has been doing a bad job for some time now, as is evidenced by the state of health care in our country, the economy, the war, the environment, and the daily life of middle Americans, to name a few topics. Yes gas is outrageous, but so is destroying the environment. And if the only answer is to get more gas out of Alaska then the candidate is not addressing something fundamental about where our country needs to be heading. Palin makes a point about the exact quote of the slogan - drill, baby, drill (and what I'm implying here is she talks more fluff for 2 minutes). Biden outlines the problem and offers viable solutions.
Who is more in tune with educated Americans?
Oh, and when she started talking about freedom I was reminded of George Orwell's Politics and the English Language, which I highly recommend, by the way.
Here's the transcript for my future reference also.
When I compare their closing remarks, there's just no contest.
*Remember Katrina? for one.
Well, that is my take on watching the debate, what I left feeling and hearing. Feel better now it's off my chest.
